We seek an experienced news writer with a background in science and technology journalism to join our team. The ideal candidate will be pivotal in crafting and delivering top-notch content for our publication. The role requires effective communication with international teams and responding to breaking news, all within tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Must be available to work from 11 AM to 8 PM EST.
- Monitor for breaking science and tech stories, independently assign tasks, write, and self-publish.
- Work closely with editors and writers to facilitate seamless coordination, addressing any necessary story modifications or delays.
- Craft and edit stories with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring they are free of errors.
- Analyze website traffic patterns to discern popular content types, contributing valuable insights to enhance audience engagement.
- Lead the charge in setting the daily news agenda, ensuring prompt and comprehensive coverage of breaking news.
Requirements
- Outstanding English language skills are essential, with an emphasis on the ability to produce, edit, and polish content to meet the highest standards of clarity, accuracy, and engaging storytelling.
- At least 3 years of experience in journalism within a digital media environment.
- Proficiency in using WordPress CMS.
- A robust interest in reporting on topics related to technology, engineering, and science.
- Exceptional communication skills, ensuring timely and effective collaboration.
- A driven individual with a zeal for learning, eager to refine their journalistic skills in a nurturing setting.
- Possesses the capability to work autonomously.
- Proven self-initiator, exhibiting the confidence to make swift decisions in a dynamic news setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in content writing and editing within a journalistic context.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices to optimize online content.
- Experience working with content management systems.
